i only blog for the comments.

Ok so just a super quick post to say 'ooooooh it's february 29th!'
Other notable things that happened this month that are out of the ordinary:

1. I started making cut outs thanks to inspiration via Walter Scott, this book my roommate has and the fact that it's pretty inexpensive to make (dollarama posterboard and leftover exacto knives from art school!)

2. I realised that in the last 4 months I lost 10 pounds. 5 in the last month. I'm pretty happy about it.

3. LOST has been airing every week and is BLOWING MY MIND. I love you, television.

So back on January 2nd I posted a bunch of pseudo new years resolutions and i'm happy to report that i've been keeping up on several of them. To refresh:
1. Learn how to upload pictures on this thing.

DONE! Except for the fact that they're super blurry. what's up with that?

2. Renew my passport.

Totally got up this morning at 6am just to get in line before all the other mofos looking to do the same. I was 12th in line, barely had to wait and now I can safely pick up my passport on March 5th-- one week before I...

3. Book my flights to Austin and Chicago (sxsw, baby!) Go to Austin!

Tickets are paid for (got a really good deal using kayak.com) and I'm gonna be staying with some friends of friends. Does anyone have a sleeping bag I can borrow? Also- this magical lady will be my partner in crime throughout the festival. Her name is Jessica Larrabee

and she rules. Her band, She Keeps Bees will be playing some non-festival type shows, as will the sweetest most sympathetic band (puke on 'em and their girlfriends and they don't mind. well maybe a little) Brutal Knights. I doubt I'll get to see everyone i want to see, especially Dolly Parton, but I'm sure it's gonna be nothing but fun.

4. Drink 1 litre of H2O everyday, among other healthy things.

I don't do this everyday, but when I do I feel a lot better. Always working on it.

5. Allow room to make mistakes/ cheat but make sure i'm back on track the next day.

Totally. Like this one time- I let myself have a donut walking back from work (the kind with the sprinkles on 'em), but the next day I was totally healthy again.

6. Keep my camera on me more and take lots of pictures.

I started of good, but have been lacking. i think this just coincides with my not going out much, and when I do, I try not to bring my purse so I can dance and not have to worry about my purse in the corner (too cheap to pay for coat check). Whatever, spring is coming, it'll be easier.

7. Go for my driver's license after my birthday.

Still gotta wait on that one.

8. Start closet renewal projects for people I know.

booked one with my pal Lena but then there were some scheduling conflicts so I'm aiming for April-Mayish.

9. Pay off my Visa (or at least almost!)

I had to buy plane tickets and a wall unit! Please forgive me.

Also not on my list that I've accomplished:

1. learned how to crochet
2. got the most amazing new idea for my buisness
3. started writing a script with Sinbad
4. sometime in the last few months lost 6 pounds??!!
5. started a super awesome art project as an idea for a birthday present for my buddy owain. hopefully it works out.

life lessons

Last night I went to Otaki for Chrissy's birthday and all you can eat sushifest. I had caviar for the first time and they felt like pop rocks in my mouth.

All you can eat sushi is definitely something worth splurging on, and even super poor people should do it once in their lifetime. (And by poor people, I mean my friends). There were about 13 of us in total and while searching for someone to make a birthday toast Christina volunteered as the eldest and therefore suposedly the wisest saying 'Have more sex'.

Today I went to my shrink and his wise words of the session were 'why do you come here? You're as normal as the rest of us- and probably as normal as you're gonna get'. He also asked me if I thought I had bad taste in men, which I thought was one of th most intersting questions I've ever been asked.

Later on after some craft supply shopping I went to see my old boss/ surrogate father Steve Welch and he told me (in his very godlike sounding voice I might add) that 'Freedom comes with security'. What he was trying to say was that I hadn't sold my soul to the devil aka the large corporation I work for and infact by taking the job I have, am now allowing myself to spread my proverbial "creative" wings in a way that might actually get me the closest to where I want to be. I love Steve.

He sold me a Love and Rockets comic and now I have the rest of the evening to write my staff evaluations and watch the reality show 'I Love New York'.

Today, life is good, and well earned-seeming.

oh man

So this morning I had to go to my neighbourhood medical clinic and WHILE I WAS WAITING this dude hit on me. I was even holding an empty pee cup and the guy says (and i quote) 'You are fiiine' and winks at me. Who tries to pick someone up in a medical clinic waiting room?? What if i was there cause i thought i had herpes??? (ed. note: i don't have herpes).

In less freaky news, i'm making a movie! Sinbad Richardson (of vienna pitts fame) and I are writing a script and plan on shooting it in the fall. The working title is Lucy and Charlie and it's gonna be a cute, clever story about friends and life lessons that has a magical element to it. So far the only character that is for sure cast is Lucy aka me. Sinbad is taking care of a lot of the technical stuff, whether we get a production company or not and writing it with me, and possibly taking on the other title role, but it's still sorta up in the cards.

Here is a picture of me and Pee Wee, Sinbad's dog.

Note that I am quite hungover but my roots are done!

Anna Karin

I have a new roommate as of today, which makes me feel a) relieved and b) pee in my pants excited! Her name is Anna Karin and together we are putting together a shopping event for all you vintage/used clothing lovers out there. I promise lots more details later but in the meantime you should totally get pumped.

(you might recognize her from the cover of worn fashion journal issue #3)

Also we would need to use a loft/open space somewhere in central montreal sometime in late march. anyone have any good ideas?
